Growing in Wisdom and Stature
by sandihester
My 2 year old nephew is unusually smart (unlike his Aunt Sandi) – he remembers EVERTHING you tell him (again, unlike me – I forget my own address sometimes – you think I’m kidding – I’m not). I’ve had this idea of doing a scripture picture book for him to help him fall in love with the Word of God at an early age. I wanted to put together something that could help him start working on memorizing scripture. Well, I finally got around to doing it for his birthday. He is 2 years old today. My prayer is that as he grows in wisdom and stature he will love the Word. Aidan, seek Jesus with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength – there is nothing like Him on earth! May He be your greatest joy! I love you!
I took pictures of the pages – they didn’t turn out too well – they are lop-sided and blurry, but it will give you an idea of the book. On one side I’ve printed pages that look like they’re out of the bible and I’ve “highlighted” the verse that goes with the picture, so he can “find” the verse. On the opposite side is a painting and the focus verse for him to start learning.
For those of you parents that like this idea, you don’t have to be an artist to do something like this. You could easily get magazines and cut out pictures and make your own picture scripture book. If you’d like some more ideas on pictures and verses let me know, because I have a ton of them (if enough of you respond I’ll post them on the blog). I just bought a scrap book and pasted the pictures and printed out verses in the book. You can get as elaborate or as simple as you’d like. It would be a fun project for older kids too!
Sandi, God has gifted you greatly, girl! Your paintings are beautiful, and your idea for the book, and the paintings in it are outstanding! I am sure that Aidan will TREASURE that book! Thank you for sharing your gifts with all of us.

Everyone at Aidan’s party thought your book was just beautiful – and a great idea! Thank you so much for making it -we will treasure it!
what a great idea! i’m going to store this one away for future use! aidan has a great aunt!
Sandi: Your book idea for Aidan is awesome. The paintings for it are so wonderful. I watched you paint 3 or 4 of them in class last week and you are so quick and they are so different and good. I think there is a future for this book and more like it. You have such creative ideas along with your painting talent. Keep it up.
I won’t see you for a while since I decided not to take the next class session because of my schedule I told you about. But, hopefully, the fall will be better and I can come back. Hope you will be there but I will be keeping up with you on your sweet site. I’m heading to Anacortes, WA and Gibson’s Landing, BC on Sat. for 2 weeks. Looking forward to getting out of town. Take care and please keep me in your prayers. M.
You are amazing. I know I have said it before, but you really are amazing. I would definitely like some more ideas. This is going to be our first homeschool Bible project. I will have the younger guys just recreate what you did, but I would like to have the older ones to something different. Thanks for staying in the Word.
You are truly amazing! That book is powerful! I would love some more ideas. I am going to have Brooks start one of these. Although his pictures will not compare to yours. I just have to Praise God!–once again for what he is doing through you!

Angie, let’s talk in March about some more ideas – I have another one, but I can’t post it yet, because it’s going to be a surprise for my nephew. I will be posting it when I get it together. It’s more of a hands on project with him and not so artistic as this one. But don’t feel frustrated that Brooks’ book won’t have paintings in it – he will probably love finding pictures in magazines or even taking pictures of things in nature or around the house and having the pictures developed to put in a book. Get him involved – in the end he’ll probably enjoy looking at it more if he’s had a part in making it.
